Since 2024, there have been quite a few changes to my Android apps list. Rather than updating the old post, I'm going to list all the apps I'm using at the start of 2026.

As I've said before, it's a never-ending journey. Things evolve over time, but I try not to diversify apps for a single feature and to have as few apps as possible. I'll point out the apps that I consider essential with the STAR emoji.

Since I run GrapheneOS, I avoid using Aurora to install apps from the Play Store as much as possible… But unfortunately, I have no choice for some of them.

So apps installed with obtainium :

Not open-source but paid (one time for life) on their websites :

  • FolderSync I'm using it to backup files from my phone to my ownCloud instance.
  • Symfonium ⭐ music app with Jellyfin and many other provider supported.

And the list of applications I'm managing with Aurora

  • Banks applications (you don't need to know which banks I'm using).
  • camera Google Pixel Camera app with options to block everything and access only on use.
  • Freeletics Workouts app.
  • planta manage your plants, still not convince by plant-it to replace it.
  • renshuu to learn japanese.
  • Roborok to control my vacuum cleaner Dobby (as I've information in Home Assitant, I will be able to remove it… I hope).
  • vinted marketplace for buying and selling second-hand items.
  • withings as I'm using a Withings Smart Scale and Watch, I need the application to update and monitor the stuff.

⚠️ It's your responsibilities to make applications (and data) backups: Be very careful!

So, we can see that I have greatly reduced the number of apps on my phone, but I still have eight of them that come from the Play Store. They are different from those in 2024, but I could never have zero apps from the Google store, it's impossible.

See you soon, for real this time.
